If you like sleeping-in and taking your time getting up in the morning then this tour is for you. It starts later then regular tours but still covers all the top attractions. After your late pick-up from one of several hotels in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem you’ll be taken to Mount Scopus where you can look out over the rooftops of Jerusalem for a magnificent view of the Golden City.
From Mount Scopus travel to the Old City and take a walk through the Jewish Quarter, past the Byzantine Cardo once Jerusalem’s main thoroughfare. Visit the Western Wall, the holiest Jewish site in the world where you can place a prayer note between the huge stones. Continue on to the Via Dolorosa and follow the narrow lanes through the Old City as Jesus did bearing his cross. We pause at a few Stations of the Cross where Jesus halted briefly on route to Golgotha. Via Dolorosa ends at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a massive, ornate 4th century church. The Holy Sepulchre is considered one of the holiest Christian sites in the world as it holds the site of Christ’s crucifixion and Christ’s burial tomb. Spend time exploring the many shrines of the church each overseen by one of the Christian denominations that share the Holy Sepulchre.
We leave the Old City and stop at Mount Zion to visit the Room of the Last Supper. It was here that Jesus feasted with his disciples on the eve of his arrest and subsequent crucifixion. Also on Mount Zion we visit King David’s Tomb, the traditional final resting place of David, King of the Jews. At the end of the tour you can choose to be dropped off at a Jerusalem Light Rail stop or in Tel Aviv at the BY14 Hotel.
