The tour starts when you are picked up from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and taken to the Old City of Jerusalem. Your guide will lead you along the ancient streets past landmarks that have been here for thousands of years. In the Jewish Quarter see the Wailing Wall, once part of the Jewish Temple, destroyed in 70AD. Walk along the stone-paved Via Dolorosa retracing the steps of Jesus as he carried his cross to Golgotha. Along the way, the Stations of the Cross are marked with small churches. Visit the iconic Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a 4th-century church constructed to encompass the site of the crucifixion and Christ's burial tomb. As we leave the Old City we'll pass through the Muslim Quarter's suk, a typical Middle Eastern market.
Just outside the Old City is Mount Zion, where we'll stop to see the tomb where King David was laid to rest and visit the Upper Room or Cenacle where Jesus dined with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. Next the tour takes you to the Haas Promenade which overlooks the city's skyline. This is the perfect place for a shot of Jerusalem's rooftops, steeples and domes.
The tour continues into the newer areas of the city, to modern Jerusalem. Passing Yemin Moshe, the first neighborhood built outside the Old City walls we see the Montefiore Windmill. We stop at the First Station(Tachana), a historic train station that has been restored and repurposed into a modern shopping and dining and complex. We pass Israel's parliament building (Knesset) and visit the Rose Garden. You can walk through the garden which has been recognized internationally for its outstanding beauty. Our last stop is the Machane Yehuda Market. Dating back to the Ottoman era this colorful market sells everything you can imagine. In the last few years, it has become a foodie destination with famous chef restaurants opening up in the market. Enjoy some unique people-watching, do some shopping and soak up the local atmosphere. The tour ends when you are taken to the drop-off point in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
