Ascend to Golan Heights via Hamat Gader on southern end of Heights, overlooking Yarmuk River and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Overlook the Sea of Galilee and sense the vulnerability of Tiberias from the Shalom observatory. Continue to Katzrin, the modern capital of the Golan, alongside the excavated city of the Talmudic period, second to fifth centuries. The museum displays many of the archaeological finds from the Golan, including a Chalcolithic dolmen.

Time permitting this can be combined with a visit to the winery, known for prize-winning Gamla, Yarden and Golan wines.

Visit the Mizpeh Gadot memorial and see the abandoned Syrian fortifications.

It is possible to choose from the following options:

a) Visit Gamla, the Masada of the Golan, destroyed by the Romans in the early stages of the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 67 CE and see the raptors in the Nature Reserve.

b) Explore the former Syrian fortifications on Mount Bental and overlook the Syrian town of Kuneitra

c) Feel the icy cold water at the source of the Hermon River, one of the tributaries of the Jordan River at Roman Caesarea Philippi (Banias) and follow the nature trail.

d) See the preserved mud brick Canaanite gateway at the northernmost biblical city of Dan and follow the nature trail

e) Climb the Mameluke fortress of Kal’at Nimrod, resting on the destroyed Crusader remains and enjoy the amazing view.
