2013 will be the 3rd Festival of Light held in Jerusalem’s Old City, visitors are invited to wander through the Old City and enjoy the free entertainment and art work provided in public areas. Apart from the free public events in the alley ways and squares of the Old City there are also several professional performances which require purchased tickets. All the events, shows and exhibitions are inspired by light, you can see fire eaters, laser light shows and light statues.

It is possible to download a festival map which pin points the location of festival events and there are several “trails” on the map which will take you past a series of attractions. You can get a map and further information from the festival information center next to the Jaffa Gate and in Hurva Square. In previous years events have been held at the Jaffa Gate, in the Omar Ibn El Hattab Square, along the Armenian Patriarchate Road, on the Cardo and in Hurvah Square as well as other Old City locations. There are also happenings, concerts and exhibits in several of the Old City churches. Both Israeli and international artists will be presenting their work at the festival which throws new light on the urban architecture through instillations, dance, music and artwork.
